Specimens: One-Offs by Jason Limon

Plenty of one-off's too...

We previously teased you about Jason Limon's SPECIMENS One-Off Painted Sculpts - now is the time to prepare your funds to score them! Scheduled for availability on October 1st @ 1pm CST via www.thefirstof.com are these beauties, with prices ranging from US$150 to US$400 - which in my humble opinion showcases what exactly is an artist doing his own sculpts and paints should be doing, IMHO. TOYSREVIL asked Jason the genesis of these figures, and yes, they have a story! Also do check out his Flickr-stream for images of his artwork!

LIMON-ONE-OFFS-01

JASON LIMON: They are all created and painted by hand. These are pretty much based off of my paintings which have a storyline. It is real broad at the moment and gets filled in with each new image. Here's what I've been sharing with most about the story:
"As Earth continues getting polluted and humans destroy the planet, the plant-life finds a way to make a shift. It's a subtle start, where the flowers release pollen which in turn is ingested by all other living creatures and forces this change. The smaller animals, like insects and birds and the like are first effected carrying out the transformations even further.

Eventually the major goal is to overcome the human race. To blend with them and all the other animals. As they mix with humans they continue keeping a more plant like appearance, but gain intelligence from the utilization of the human mind. They destroy most of the worlds population until there is a balance and humans are reduced to a more simple earth-friendly life."

JASON LIMON: In the story, there are many things that come about. Like, I go into detail about how the plant life become more selective in breeding. They don't mate like mammals, but use the human body as a seed. They've found it best to use women because they are naturally more nurturing and they go even further in selecting brown hair and brown or green eyes to keep the plant-like pigments. It all sounds a bit cruel, but i try to tell the story in a not-so vulgar way in pictures.

JASON LIMON: These figures I am focusing on grow from the ground. They come about like this:
"...there are a number of creatures that are grown by the later intelligent plant-life. The duty of these creatures is to produce a multitude of flying organic beings that travel the planet and these flying creatures spray out pollen. The particles in this pollen are sprayed out onto the bare surfaces of the planet. They then burrow into the soil and grow into these various creatures. So the look of these things are kind of endless since it's a blend of human, animal and plant.

As they are older, they consume humans and take on their knowledge and thoughts. In a way, the human grows, has memories and all but becomes a fixed part of the earth."
.JASON LIMON: I'm still working out a lot of the stuff and things get filled in along the way. So there are still a lot of unanswered questions and when I come to them I try to figure them out.
