Whether it is steeped in tradition, a dazzling metropolis, or floating in outer space, we want to see your imagination! All entries must reach STGCC by 11:59 p.m. ET on 15th July 2011. All submission must be accompanied with the official form and submit it to Rita Magnus via rita.magnus@reedexpo.com.sg [Full-details here, including downloadable Official Form to go along with your artwork].

Singapore Premiere of Godaizer @ Sinema, Old School (July 7)

To my knowledge, Singapore does not have their own "giant monster" movie, much less a "giant robot" movie - and truth be told, to a wannabe-geekoid like me, it is a heinous and sad crime of geekmanity. But then I meant Hillary Yeo at last years's STGCC and discovered there might be hope yet! And come July 7th, we will see the local premiere of GODAIZER in Singapore - and we WILL have a giant monster x giant robot flick to call our own!

The fully animated Godaizer (www.godaizer.com) is scheduled for a screening on Thursday (7:30pm-9:30pm) @ Sinema, at Old School on 11B Mount Sophia. If you are interested to see this, please RSVP via the Facebook events-page. The theatrette has a seating capacity of 120, and if the number is hit, registration will close.

Doors Open at 7pm, with the screening beginning at 7:30pm. followed by a Screening of "Making of Godaizer" at 8pm, and wrapping up with a 1/2 hour Q&A starting at 8:30pm.

As well there will be a "contribution bowl" towards cinema renting fees. What? You think indie filmmaking is FREE? LOL Check out the slideshow of stills from the movie, posted below:

Third Anniversary Of Plastic Culture: A Statement From Joshua Artono

Today, Friday July 1st sees Indonesia-based Plastic Culture celebrate their third anniversary. P.C. has been extremely kind to TOYSREVIL, having invited and hosted me to be a Special Guest in Jakarta last year for Munny World Festival Indonesia, both Joshua and Win has been also good to me personally too. Hell, they even visited me in the hospital while I was lying in for Stroke-recovery last year! TWICE!

That is the measure of compassion and passion these folks (and their friends) have, much less for the industry and toy-culture in Indonesia, IMHO.

In this day of their anniversary, I bugged Joshua Artono (the CEO and Founder of Plastic Culture) for his impressions of this fateful day, and of the path P.C. has taken thus far - along with a surprise announcement that'll be a surefire delight to fans in Indonesia!

PLASTIC-CULTURE-3RD-ANNIVERSARY

JOSHUA ARTONO: This three years have been quite a journey for us. Started out with a simple kiosk three years ago (2008) at fX Lifestyle X'nter which then quickly turn into our first store with a motto, MY NEW OBSESSION. Then, in a blink of an eye, here we are.. three stores and 6 kiosks later, Plastic Culture still stands. We are very grateful to have such supports from the toy lovers all over Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and around the world.

PLASTIC-CULTURE-EVENTS PLASTIC-CULTURE-EVENTS-2

JOSHUA ARTONO: Over the past three years, we have so many great memories. From our workshop sessions in almost every University in Jakarta, to our in store exhibitions and not forget the custom contests. One of the most memorable event was none other than Munny World Festival Indonesia where we see more than 250 customized Munny in one place with attendance of more than 3000 people in the span of three days. To see such talent, creativity, and the celebration of art toys in a single place, it's just simply remarkable.

PLASTIC-CULTURE-MWFI-02

A TOYSREVIL first: we are here to announce the next MUNNY WORLD FESTIVAL INDONESIA will be take its place again late September or early October this year at Plastic Culture, Grand Indonesia.

JOSHUA ARTONO: This is a great opportunity to tell you that the story behind Plastic Culture. It is founded simply because we want to inspire Indonesian artists to expand their horizon. Our dream has always been the same, and that is to take up local underground artists and introduce them to the international scene. It is not an easy task but we believe that if we are faithful in small things than big things will come.

Now, we are producing toys in collaboration with My Tummy Toys, Kuso Vinyl, and more to come (can't reveal prior to agreement). We will also be releasing our line of toys featuring our resident artists, Thunderpanda and Bismark Toy Lab (formerly known as Saltnpaper) as well as couple of toys line up from international known artists.

JOSHUA ARTONO: Taipei Toy Festival will be our ground premiere of our toy line: Perry the Sea Wanderer by Thunderpanda and also Solidboy v2.0 by Bismarck Toy Lab. Also in collaboration with our urban clothing line, DAMN! I LOVE INDONESIA, we will also be previewing something of yet a surprise. If you are attending TTF 2011 this year, make sure to drop by in booth A7 and look for me. Of course, I will greet you with a big smile!

Once again, thank you for all the support and love for Plastic Culture. You may not know, but it really means a lot to me. Special shout out goes to my man, Andy for all the advice and supports that you have given us and the opportunity that you have given for me, especially to pour my heart on your blog. Thanks buddy! Speedy recovery as well.. MUCH LOVE!

New Mock Bat (Unpainted) Sculpt by Paul Kaiju

MOCKBAT-PAULKAIJU-01

Although I am never the "first" to feature about Paul Kaiju's latest awesomeness, it does not matter, as they NEED to be shared regardless! Now if his new (unpainted) "MOCK BAT" sculpt - with a movable tummy-trap door to show it's sculpted-guts - does not move you to toy-tears, or send a swell-shiver down your toy-lurving spine = I do not know what will! Sized about a King Jinx, it sure looks to be a super-swell companion beside a Boss Carrion as well, IMHO!

Designing GupGups Feature with designs by Tim Wollweber

gupgupdesignBasherTW

GUPGUPS STORY: Badduk the Basher  likes to hit things. A lot.

Normally this is not seen as a problem by the Big Red Axe orc tribe, but Badduk takes hitting things to an extreme.  Badduk likes hitting things so much that he won't use a weapon, not even his tribes signature red axe, because in his words, "It ain't personal enough".

Instead of an axe, Baddak has his Bashers - heavy iron-studded knuckles strapped to his fists. With these, Badduk will happily hit things all day long. Rocks, trees, buildings, his dinner, and any enemies or friends that are inattentive or crazy enough to get within arms reach.

One day, the Big Red Axe tribes chief will have to do something about the enthusiastic orc... but until then there's a lot of entertainment to be had, thanks to Badduk and his Bashers.

Four New TV Spots & International Poster for Captain America

A quartet of new "Captain America" movie TV Spots - which features the transformation of Steve Rogers into Captain America, and him taking down a horde of HYDRA goons [Source] as well as a new International Poster image posted below - which not-so-surprisingly sees the Captain sans his signature mask/helm (Although the Red Skull enlarged out back simply looks like a dude with red skin …but that's just me). Captain America premieres July 22nd, 2011.

And The Winner of Best Design in the Designing GupGups Contest Is
"PandaGups" from The Pandakroo! Congratulations!

PANDAKROO-GUPGUPS
"We were truly amazed by all the incredible talent that chose to participate with us on this competition. We feel so fortunate to see work from such wonderful artists! The judging was incredibly difficult with so many inspired entries. I found it challenging narrowing it down to a top forty. In the end though, I'm ecstatic about our winners. I feel both their design and humour really spoke to me." ~ Nick Tay, Designing GupGups-Judge.

PANDAKROO-CHARACTER

Shown above is a character created at "around the same time" of the Pandakroo-GupGups design-submission. Swell to see an extension of their characterization from the streets to the contest, IMHO. "we are a crew, and we do character design! long life to the pandakroo!" added Pandakroo.
