Pobber Toys @ #STGCC2016
Pobber Toys was a hive of activity in STGCC2016 (Sept 10-11, 2016), with a debut of a few collectibles - most notably the release of the Skullhead Samurai, along with Signing Session with JonPaul Kaiser and Huck Gee!
And while the allocation for STGCC itself has since been Sold Out, the online sales for SKULLHEAD SAMURAI is happening TONIGHT 23rd September at 10PM SG Time on pobber.bigcartel.com! Price is US$100 per. Def one of the highlights at this year's geekcon, IMHO.
Also in attendance for signing was Paulus Hyu from Indonesia, with his “Feeling Blue”-Edition Daydream Nimbus (produced by Kurobokan), which Sold Out of it’s 45pcs run! A brand new vinyl sculpt was also shown: The adorable OFFSPRING! Stay tuned for further details! NOTE: “Offspring” is to be produced by Kurobokan, and was only on display at Pobber’s :)
Also available were Roadkill Editions from TwelveDot (OG Black and Happily After Edition) and as well a splendid one-of-one custom from Josh Mayhem (first time I am seeing his “Blown Away” concept in-person too!).
The online release for “Roadkill: Happily Ever After” will happen “soon” (Keep updated by following Instagram @pobbertoys!), and this was what Jake Lee had to share with us about the choice of colorway;
”Roadkill is so named to reflect frogs and other animals killed in roadkill accidents. However this edition is special as Roadkill has visibly aged and is possibly living happily ever after, hence the name. We want to juxtapose the clean glossy edition against a dirty aged piece. ”
Pobber was well debut “TwistedBart” by Spanish artist Cote Escriva - with the all-black edition available for sales, both at the event and online (on Sept 19) - with both allocations since listed as “Sold Out”. Limited to 50pc, priced online for US$100 for this 9-inch tall resin figure. I’d also asked Jake if there were plans for future editions, to which his reply was;
”We have not decided on future editions yet but the response has been fantastic and we are really happy. We will work on it and keep everyone updated in the future.“
On show as as well Jc Rivera’s BEAR CHAMP, JPK’s KING OF MISCHIEF SYLVAN, BAD ASS from Kronk and other earlier Pobber releases … and looking ahead, we get a gander at a schweet line-up of upcoming collectibles too - including Ron English’s “COMBRAT” (from their upcoming #maketoysnotwar-themed line), and Scott Tolleson’s “PO”!
