#EntertainMe: MORBIUS Joins The Spider-Man Cinematic Universe with a new Trailer!

Sony Pictures has released their first trailer for "MORBIUS" - featuring Jared Leto leaving the hubris that which was "The Joker" (in Suicide Squad") behind into yet another superhero-film franchise as "Dr. Michael Morbius" - based on the comic book character known as "Morbius The Living Vampire"!

"Created by writer Roy Thomas and originally designed by penciler Gil Kane, the character first appeared as an antagonist in The Amazing Spider-Man #101 (Oct. 1971)." (Source).

"Morbius" gets a contemporary cinematic update, and now joins fellow Spider-Man properties like 2018's "VENOM" (FEATURES on POPCORNX) in the continued building up of the Sony+Spider-Man/Spider-Verse Cinematic Universe, which includes a surprising surprise guest's appearance at the very end of this trailer - whom folks who follow the current Spider-Man movies - particularly "Spider-Man: Homecoming" might recognise as actor Michael Keaton, who played "Adrian Toomes" AKA "(The) Vulture"!

I certainly can appreciate folks taking their time building up their cinematic universes without rushing through and churning out disappointments (*cough-JusticeLeague-cough*). And is it just me, or does the tone and visual mood for Morbius mirrors that of Venom? NICE.

Check out the trailer below, and the write-up for the film, and stay tuned for a Summer release in U.S. theaters.

"One of Marvel’s most compelling and conflicted characters comes to the big screen as Oscar® winner Jared Leto transforms into the enigmatic antihero, Michael Morbius. Dangerously ill with a rare blood disorder, and determined to save others suffering his same fate, Dr. Morbius attempts a desperate gamble. What at first appears to be a radical success soon reveals itself to be a remedy potentially worse than the disease.

Stars Jared Leto, Matt Smith, Adria Arjona, Jared Harris, Al Madrigal, with Tyrese Gibson."
