The Super Mario Bros. Movie & Top Ten Appropriated Super Mario Bros Toys on TOYSREVIL
From #Illumination and #Nintendo comes a new animated film based on the world of Super Mario Bros. Released today is the first TEASER TRAILER (watch below)! The "Super Mario Bros. Movie" will be released in North America on April 7, 2023 and in Japan on April 27, 2023.
Directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic (collaborators on Teen Titans Go!, Teen Titans Go! To the Movies) from a screenplay by Matthew Fogel (The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part, Illuminations’s Minions: The Rise of Gru), the film stars Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong, Fred Armisen as Cranky Kong, Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek and Sebastian Maniscalco as Spike.
The film is produced by Illumination founder and CEO Chris Meledandri and by Shigeru Miyamoto for Nintendo. The film will be co-financed by Universal Pictures and Nintendo and released worldwide by Universal Pictures. #supermariomovie

Seen above is the original colorway, while there've since been multiple colorway releases for this sized 9-inch tall vinyl figure (as produced by @strangecattoys).

So I've decides to split #2 between two appropriated releases but both by the same folks, in this case: BID TOYS, starting with the above featured "MAKIRA" (Mario X Akira)! Appropriating the classic "AKIRA" anime, Mario is now "Kaneda" atop his infamous bike (check the detail of the bike hood character ornament :p). I certainly love me sum pop culture mash-ups...!
"MAKIRA" was released in 2020, and donned the helmet of Kamen Rider for "HERO-M" in 2022!
The second part of this rank goes to "KOOBALA", which is a mash-up of BOWSER X GODZILLA, and had been released in a trio of guises, alongside a MARIO X ULTRMAN: MA-NULTRA VS KOOBALA (2020), DARK MA-NULTRA VS KOOBALA CRIMSON MODE (2020), and standalone MECHA KOOBALA (2021)!

SUPER MARIO BROS X LEON THE PROFESSIONAL = "SUPER PROFESSIONAL" by Hong Kong based toy brand Fools Paradise, with this first released in 2018, and subsequently continued forth with Mario's guise appropriated into numerous film and television themed releases, including;
Squid Game, John Wick, Forrest Gump, Total Recall, Pulp Fiction, and celebrities such as Andy Warhol ... not to mention versions of "Super Professional", including SUPER PROFESSIONAL 3 with a "familiar guest"...!
And while I have decided on the above rankings based on the closest iconological depiction of Mario, the COLOURS of the video game character(s) are oft used to showcase the connection, including @quiccs' TEQ63 and SUPER NANOBROS ... and even sub-characters, with this particular case of @diko_art's "FAMILIAR MEATUS" resin releases in 2014 (WHAT ARE / About the TOYSREVIL Edition)!
