ARTIST BIO: "In Japan, Nobuyoshi Araki, together with Daidō Moriyama and Hiroshi Sugimoto are known as the most important photographers after World War I. Araki is the only one who owned the most internationally influential photographers of all time and the only Asian photographer who was filmed in the "Hundred Years of Photography Art" by BBC. Its unique artistic pursuits created a lens and a vision. His controversy has shaken the tradition of photography. Icelandic musician Björk, American pop diva LADY GAGA, Japanese model Kiko Mizuhara, and the most influential Japanese artist Kusama Yayoi were once a model under his lens."
ARTIST BIO (CONTINUED): "Since 1970, he has published more than 450 books. With the publication of the sentimental journey (1971), as his “honeymoon record”, Araki was exposed to the public of his privacy and private events of his wedding trips. The vision has left its important mark in contemporary photography. His frank photos, often associated with the words "erotic", "naked" and "shackles", sparked controversy. But as one of the most popular photographers in the world, he used his own life to reflect his belief that photography is a "lie” or another “truth" that reflected reality through the lens, but carried his emotions and soul. His photos describe life, death and imperfections are the basic themes of all Araki's works."
ARTIST BIO (CONTINUED): "In addition to photography, he also showed a very distinctive aspect in his drawings. There are very few drawings by Araki, within this 5 years after the death of his wife, he created a collection of drawings called "Genius Drawing." APPortfolio, the art curator of the "The First" exhibition and Araki, have extracted two classic characters from this book ELEPHANT "デロン君" and WOMAN "ゲバゲバ" in the drawings revealed his childhood memories and launched the first sculpture in the life of Araki."

(Cheers for the headsup, Mengyu)
