iron man casting

Robert Downey Jr. is Tony Stark [via]

[Downey image via/ Iron Man via / photoshopped mustache+goatee by me :p]

no doubting the acting-capabilities of Mr.Downey Jr, but as futurist / millionaire come playboy come recovering alcoholic; Tony Stark/Iron Man? = which means the flick's gonna take on a less "hot young popstar of the hollywood-moment" approach and that's a good thing, no? personally, i reckon they should worry about the armor first, is all im sayin' ~ casting comments, anyone? (keep it clean folks) *heh*

added 30.09.06:
director, Jon Favreau confirms the news:
"It is true. Robert Downey Jr. is Tony Stark. I am about as excited as I can be. I saw what he can do and he is extremely enthusiastic about playing Stark. I can say with absolute certainty that there is no better choice. The humor and emotional dimension he brings truly raises the bar on this project. Get ready." [via]

the movie plot (thus far):
"Downey will portray Tony Stark, a billionaire industrialist and genius inventor who is kidnapped and forced to build a devastating weapon. Using his intelligence and ingenuity, Stark instead builds a high-tech suit of armor and escapes captivity. Upon his return to the U.S., he uncovers a plot with global implications and must don his armor and protect the world." [via/via]

  1. i guess he wont have trouble with the alcoholic part of tony stark... though i still think tom cruise would've been pretty cool, seeing as to how he's as big an asshole as tony.
