> Tis Not The Man But The Mentality : The NKF Saga Begins
i've resisted going-on about this NKF hooha, but itz gotten way out of hand for me to clam-up...
Dear Mr. Clear-Entitlements-Ostentatiously,
its not just about how much money you earn and of the bonuses you've received
(work performance = monetary reimbursement is sumthing i too grapple with, in this cut-throat industry, tho obviously NOT at "that" level of pricing! *drool*)
its not just about the $990-gold-faucet and the thousand dollar-ed wash basin anymore ...
(you might not genuinely have known about or approved it personnally)
its not just about the upgrading of business-class plane tix to first-class tix anymore ...
(even if it's with the money that the company pays you, out of the donations of others)
its not just about the false numbers given to the public about the actual total number of needy patients ...
(1 missing person is already a tragedy to families ... but 1,000 "missing persons" is hardly a "mistake" or "oversight", innit?)
it's the audacity to perpetuate mis~truths and to claim ignorance of it all, (a superb-CEO leader, that many has claimed you to be ... and yes, no one is perfect, whatevah) ... it is the audacity to think that you could get away with it all, scott-free ... it is the audacity to sue the 2 persons who HAD seen you in first class but you lied insisted that you were not, when in fact you WERE?
... when you twist facts, inevitably your intentions (however good they are in the first place) will be in doubt... and you put not just your own integrity and face in the media/public-tornado, you're dragging down the company's as well ...
and when you sue the people and the newspaper about these "allegations", whose money would be used in this effect? you're own salary? the salary based on the performance of the company and your efforts? the salary paid for by the donating public? the measely $5.80 that i've phoned in? i wouldn't claim to know, i am but a layman after all ...
tis not about that $5.80. its about the audacity in your demeanor in this entire situation and hooha, that warns me that my money might never see the light of day, for the people who really NEED them, to survive. not for luxury and/or material comforts ... not becoz the company provides the "entitlement" ... or maybe it is? why waste a perfectly good offer/entitlement, innit? i wouldn't claim to know, i am but a layman after all ...
let me commend you on the seemingly exceptional job you have done. 260+million dollars is no small feat, i am sure. and if this were a public-run-company; dude, you're being paid way too little for this endeavour and for your efforts! ... but am i wrong to say that the company is a non-profit-organization? or am i as ignorant as the general public might be? i wouldn't claim to know, i am but a layman after all ...
and out of the 260+mill, all it needs is 7.2mil a year to pay for the needy? a 25% subsidy? and you have the audacity to say everything you enjoy in your current life is an "entitlement"? what about the people at the end of the dialysis machine? it sure ain't a luxury given, innit? is the 25% their "entitlement"? i wouldn't claim to know, i am but a layman after all ...
how about this? mayhap cut down on the swanky trips, cut down on a coupla luxury cars and maybe even rethink your bonuses policies (tho i know this ain't gonna amount to much, but every cent goes a long way, innit?) ... and mayhap raise the 25% to 50% = wouldn't that be a great solution? a better compromise? an easier escape-clause-for-the-publically-shamed? pardon me, but im a layman in such businesses as "charities" ... but maybe my pathetic $5.80 could be put to better use? >you can keep your bathroom and fittings of course ...
and if no one decides to contribute or donate to the company as of right now, maybe you'd need to plan ahead, as you've already have done ... but if everyone still did (especially this coming thursday's show?), dun tell me you'd need to be panicking? 25%?
the reality being: if i know whom the 2,000 people actually were ~ i would gladly consider giving directly to them my $5.80 instead ... heck, you can obviously afford the 25% subsidy now, innit? how hard do you think it is for the folks who haveta fork-out the rest of the 75% themselves?
charity = subsidy? ... well, nothing is ever totally "free" in this world, in this day and age ... you should be happy that there is an organization like this already, right? rriiiiiiight?
BAH.
the wide divide between the "rich & powerful" and "non-rich & regular folks" appears even wider now ... words best left unspoken, spilt out unto the national newspaper ... and i thank her for that ... for saying the cliched-obvious-remark that people had previously only "imagined"; the conspiracy-theory of paranoid-regular folks that live in HDB-flats ... that as much as "it" is "peanuts" to the powerful minority, "it" is survival and life & death for us "regular folks", much more the folks who need the charity that had seemingly been squandered ... but no worries, "tis only peanuts" ... but then again, with the "backing" and "endorsement" he's had, we'd all better watch what we say, huh? ... tho what else can we say or do, without being in fear of being sued? 'coz i sure as hell's gonna pull this entry if ever im gonna get sued! coz poor regular folks like me can't fcukin' afford to get sued, innit? and forever our voices and opinions will be stifled, innit? (and NO, i ain't talking about "politics" here, so pls dun start) ... sometimes, less talk and more positive action might actually help to save the day ... rather than just damage control for individuals ... becoz at the end of the day, with the amount of moolah "involved", it isn't (and shouldn't be) just about one man anymore ... and in the end, he would be but made "an example" ... maybe? maybe not? ...
...and tho it might sound hypocritical of an errant-charity-donor like me (i claim not otherwise), my prayers go out to the needy ... and as for the other high-level execs thatare might be (if ever indeed are) quivering in their own skins now? ... the just will be vindicated and the guilty will be judged ...
... but then again, i wouldn't claim to know about such things, as i am but a layman after all ...
... and whether big or small, even $5.80 is still money.
