> wonderment in the aftermath of The NKF Saga
isn't it a wonder, that a scandal of one man bluffing mis~using charity money, can overshadow other world news like the tragic london bombings? or even closer to home's local brutal murders of the feetless-china-girl (NOT trying to be funny here) and the little 8 year-old girl? where even the recent transport hikes suddenly becomes non-existent? ... and of coz all I.R-talk is dried-up ... for now ...
are we all bleeding-hearts? or sour-pockets?
heck, i didn't even sign the petition, bcoz i dun even donate that much to charity in the first place! and yet i rant so? ... to be fair to all, we had our opinions and we needed them to be heard, regardless of our "so-called-direct-connection" to it all (if any) ... tho i've yet to (altho i've not searched as hard) "hear" from the beneficiaries of NKF's point-of-view (and i dun mean the folks who work there) ... but no matter now, for damage control had been swift.
tho i'd secretly like to thank the "perpetrators", for they have shaken or awoken our collective minds from lulled-apathy ... or have they?
and what of the aftermath? so what if durai and mrs.peanuts step down? and the garhmen now takes over ... (hoping that "politics" will not get in the way of it at all) ... will we all start donating to "other" charitable causes; with as much frenzy as we have heaped unto the cyberway with our unified disapproving rants and raves?
i dun claim to know anything nor promise anything, until i actually do it. putting our money where our mouth is, is a unique grey area; that is the mentality of singaporeans ... IMHO, of coz :)
but i reckon (and had always insisted) that we singaporeans are about "buzz words", a common topic thrown into our path, whereby we sweep it up and with hands gripped-tight, standing on a soapbox or streetcorner, or kopi-tiam or a blog; and promptly start to raise our collective voices about it ... and we scream in unison (abettedly with ammo from the national newspapers to feed our hungry cries-for-vengence ;p)
and this time: it worked.
... i wonder ... i wonder if it actually did? ...
tho wonder not, for in the end, mess with our money and we will cry vengence! LOL
for that is the "uniqueness" of singaporeans; i surmise ... and what we really hold dear to us ... or is it? ;p
