when toys 'go bad'

check out the "10 Worst Toys" List of 2005 [found via BoingBoing]

a hard-truth that "toys ain't just for adults anymore", which does sound a tad ridiculous, becoz traditionally, toys were meant for kids, weren't they? altho with the current "toy collectible scene" (as opposed to the "toy playing scene"), that mantra sorta gets lost along the way, dun it? which begs another question: "what toys do you, as a toy-collecting-parent; buy for your own kids?" ... and what are and should be the considerations when you do?

hey, im not for knocking toys around the globe, for different folks consider different items as "toys", heck i remember being surrounded by playmobils, legos and matchbox cars when i was but a wee lad and have not (to my memory or knowledge anyways) "suffered" or have been "affected negatively" (altho many would harken a protest to that satement, seeing im mind/knee-deep in toyology nowsadays) in that sense ... or mayhap me parents (and/or whomever took care of me then) kept a pretty tight watch over me, when i was playing with me toys, innit?

and of coz we ain't about to buy a 6" designer vinyl for our toddler to gnaw-on, are we? *heh* :p

no longer content with the playability or fun-ability of a toy anymore, we now haveta be careful (perfectly logical and responsible, i insist) about the toys we get for our kids, dun we? (excluding us "older/adult-kids" anyways, coz the only "harm" we might fall prey to; is the danger of an empty wallet, much less in debt over buying too much designer vinyls, innit? HAH) ... and then again, what we (my "generation") might deem as toys, might no longer apply (directly) to kids of this day and age, innit? i imagine having a harder time trying to get kids to play with miniature toy-cars in the playground rather than prying them away from their X-boxes/playstations and even the internet, innit? *nyuknyuk*

or maybe all what we need to do (to solve the current "problem" at hand), is to provide a much larger and obvious consumer-warning to them there toys, innit? a stamp or log smack-dab on the display boxes lining the shelves, especially with the christmas season just peeking around the corner ...

and may i present to y''all:

so sell, buy and play responsibly, true toy-believers! PLAY ON!
