ransome chua's battle of singapore
:: TOYS 1/6 ::
The Battle Of Singapore = a historical account of Singapore ~ circa 1942; WW2 ~ with 1/6th kitbashed Soldiers (4 years in the making) [via]
an exceptional collection of figures and highly commendable effort of a fellow Singaporean toy-collector/customizer, Ransome Chua.
"Before the tumultuous clouds of war came to Malaya and Singapore in 1942, a posting in the Far East for a professional soldier was an awful prospect. And should the likelihood of war occur, it would still be a despairingly dull war. In truth, unlike the Germans, facing an enemy like the Japanese was a disappointment, for their fighting reputation against the even more 'inferior' Chinese in China was unimpressive as were their pathetic weapons of war. 'Asiatics' the term given to Asians at that time, were a walkover." [via]
a firm realization and confirmation of how "toys" can be adapted beyond that which is confined to a traditional playroom ~ *exceptional*
