lifestyle in miniatures @ takashimaya (singapore) and the kick of seeing toys in print
in my earlier formative years (not that much had been "formed" since, per se *cough*) i remember buying magazines or publications which had any write-ups or mentions of superhero-comics - local indie-music-mag Big-O used to be one of them ... a few /// CLICK TO READ MORE
i surmise tis the "romantic-allusion" of the "gratification" of seeing your own personal likes and preferences (and sometimes even "opinions") being acknowledged by the general populace; like of seeing/reading one of your fav obscure bands (*whose album you thought everybody should be listening to but is strangely not*) being reviewed in your local newspaper ... maybe?
with the age of internet, pictures are disseminated far and wide, and as fast - and most times with a "disturbing" lack of information beyond purdy pictures, specifically for toys of the East (which irks me to no bitter-end, it does) ... or perhaps the reality is, i may not be as entrenched with the toy-scene in my region of the world (but no, let is not be about "me" :p) ... so reports of any sorts in local or Asian-media gets my attention ... altho sometimes the depth in which they are reported, irks me too with their superficiality (gawd, i know im a hard dude to please :p) - perhaps to some/many; "ignorance is bliss" ... so really, sometimes pictures may be enough, in lieu of total-lack-of-coverage (thy name be "Mr. Contradiction"), innit?
peeped this in mypaper today, page-A7 (a supplement of the nation's local newspaper, the Straits Times) and i felt my eyes light-up and smile widen, even tho tis just a print-advertisement about toys on display at the children's department, in a local mall :p ... but it "spoke" of my (near-silent) LIFESTYLE IN MINATURES from now til 24th march @ Level 3 Children's Department, Takashimaya, Ngee Ann City. im imagining an entire gallery display of dioramas made out of Re-Ment miniatures ... but of coz, tis just my imagination (i'd be happy if someone hired me to do them tho LOL) and i wouldn't know until i see it with my own toy-lurvin--eyes, if ever i do, of coz ... now the trick is to go alone and not be mistaken for a long-haired+bearded-freakozoid obsessing with dolly accessories LOL
