nycc2008 program schedule: toys and merchandize
the New York Comic Con 2008 full program schedule have been released [click to download PDF] and besides the "usual" NYCC-exclusive designer vinyls that i've since blogged about (and more to come, no doubt), there are a couple of TOY-related panels, for which i'd lurve to attend (IF i were there, that is ;p) - and notice that they are not necessarily "designer vinyl-related" - becoz i've always (since starting down the designer-vinyl-path) wondered about the disparity between Art Toys / Designer Toys / Mass Market / Pop Culture-themed Toys = becoz essentially, one end promotes the idolization of the Artist/Creator, while the other end of the spectrum leans heavily towards the Product and/or Brand, with the designer and artist seemingly non-existent, IMHO. (something which i'll write-up in more concrete details soon-ish) ... for example, you might read about "peep Frank Kozik's new vinyl toy XYZ!", as compared to "peep this new toy XYZ from Mattel!" - innit? i'd be interested to hear what the Mattel toy-designers haveta say about this, yeh? heh.
