  3. i'm not sure about this... since PI is organising this I guess it's natural that it focuses on urban vinyl, but to me it's not really a toy or comic convention, looking at the exhibitors' list. I mean, Hasbro without Transformers is Subway without the bread. With Blythe I thought there might be a chance for Takaratomy to showcase their Jin-Roh, but it looks unlikely. Yes, I'm disappointed that the only 1/6 that's making an appearance is the worst of them, the Medicom RAH.

No 1/6, no TF, no Marvel/DC, no Gundam, no SOC. I think CSC is still a bigger toy and comic convention any day of the week.Yeah, I'm a grouch =P but honestly as a toy/comic collector it's not really that appealing to me at all. Still, kudos to the forces that be for making it happen and paving the way for future, hopefully more varied Toy Cons.

  4. Hadrian: while i understand where you're coming from, and of your expectations of what a toy & comic con SHOULD be (some of which mirrors my own) but the reality is if singapore could've easily done a NYCC or a SDCC, then perhaps it does not justify the history and efforts of those organizing overseas conventions, IMHO.

and while im not privy to the inner workings of PI Events nor do i work for them, i can only but speculate on the status of the event, it being the first one of this size in singapore. and on the same token, the creators whom i've corresponded with will miss STCC, with one of the main reasons being it's too close to SDCC, which is about a month away.

i personally have not been to any overseas cons, so am looking forward to this, regardless of scale or variety. if it's cool, then we are good ... if it sucks and does not succeed, then we may not have another.

as much as i luv CSC, it is there every weekend, and perhaps will thrive as much during the convention period - becoz frankly if singapore's that small to accomodate or cater to any amount of toy/comic collectors, then we are actually quite screwed, even perhaps variety-wise, innit?

or maybe we could explore a wider definition of TOYS.
