Taiwan's Phalanx Studio will be having a Toy Charity event called "MY HERO, MY LEGEND" [www] during this year's Taipei Toy Festival - to help raise funds to benefit the people from the Sichuan earthquake in China a few months ago.

"My Hero, My Legend" is a conceptual project utilizing a platform figure (designed by Mark Cheng) for a variety of participating artists to interpret their version / impression of what a HERO should be/is. The customs will be on display @ TTF from July 10th (Thursday) to 13th (Sunday) at Booth #49 and #50, and will be available via online auction @ www.ruten.com.tw from July 10th-20th (TTF auction: 7/11 - 1pm and 7/12 - 7:30pm).



As many of you have heard, the great earthquake has just hit China YINGXIU and the fatalities are over 60,000 as of now. In this badly damaged town near the epicenter of the disaster, it may further climb to a level of 70,000, 80,000 or more.  Relief workers were grappling with getting tents, food and medical care to the displaced families.

How do we help as an artist? While our innovation and inspiring art form isn't exactly what the survivors at Ying Xiu need at the moment. Most of these survivors needs help in many aspects. The question bring about: how can we use our artwork to help, while we strive to revive their spiritual beings as well as the physical help that they needed the most?

"MyHero, MyLegend" is a conceptual project using designer toy as a platform that urges those artists who wish to be a helper and help and justice to those that needed the most. We are asking you to help us design HEROs. Those HEROs not from comics but a character that display your vision of what a true HERO should be and one that help cure the world spiritually, through your colors, inspiring images, refreshing point of view. As your translation of HERO was send out to oversee the displaced locations, we hope the process of this project will slowly but surely help cure those in the dark. Parts of the sales of the HERO designer toy platform will be send out to Charity that's working directly on the causes of our time.


Currently, 6 Taiwanese local celebrities who believe in this project and wish to make a difference -have been recruited. In addition 7 local Taiwanese street wear brands have been asked to help realize this project as they not only party hard, play hard, but they all believe that everyone needs to step up to help where help is called for in any form necessary. HERO is in all of us, even it's in the form of a vinyl toy

The figure and project idea originally created by Mark Chang and he hope that through this project we can set up a creative hero community. And each member hero will call other heros to lend a hand to those who needed the most.
