UPDATE 28 JULY: Bootleg TR2N-video has been yanked (psst: there is still Gizmodo) ... Hopefully we'll get to see a legit HD-form online sometime soon, and I'm looking forward to it! CLICK THRU for more info about TR2N - aka "TRON 2".
Here's a little more on the footage shown @ SDCC - via AICN:
01. The 3 minutes (shown) was a promo, not from the film itself.
02. It was directed by Joe Kosinski, who is also slated to direct the feature. (He has worked on CG animated commercials for GEARS OF WAR and HALO 3 - for Xbox 360)
03. The footage was originally done to be shown in stereoscopic 3-D, but the right eye wasn't finished in time, so it screened in 2-D.
04. The Evil Flynn from the piece (the badass 1982 Flynn that takes a disc to that poor blue bastard) is apparently Flynn's program from the original, Clu, not Flynn himself.
"On July 24, 2008 Disney surprised San Diego Comic Con attendees with debut footage from a sequel to Tron. The footage began with an update of the lightcycle duel from the original film. The duel is being observed from a high, cliff-side structure by a human figure – an older, bearded Kevin Flynn played again by Jeff Bridges. The footage ended with a '2' appearing in the traditional Tron font and the title, TR2N, emerging around it, then fading away to leave the number." [wiki]
