(cheers for the headsup Jordan, and have a fab show!)CHICAGO – September 8, 2008 – Over 40 handpicked Chicago urban artists will come together on October 11 for We Need Each Other — an out-pouring of local talent and collaborative energy. The event is a first for Chicago, and the latest exhibition presented by the Chicago’s OhNo!Doom Collaborative.
Until now, collaboration among the city’s urban artists has mainly been limited to separate works sharing the same wall space. Under OhNo!Doom’s guidance, these artists aim to create an epic piece that is not only a composition of wildly creative proportions, but a collaboration unlike anything most have experienced.
“Chicago has a relatively small urban artist community, but there hasn’t been a real opportunity to combine our style and vision to create something bigger,” said Jordan Owen, (AKA “Fathom”), co-founder of OhNo!Doom. “We Need Each Other is a chance to show the great things we’re capable of when we come together, and make us stronger as a community.”
To create the piece, each artist was given two square panels— and the freedom to do with them what they chose. A “blind” collab, the artists only knew the theme, We Need Each Other, but not how their vision would be incorporated together. Finally, connected into one flowing piece, the finished 16-foot collaboration will be revealed at the show’s opening event.
