fire olly by ready2rumbl
Like every inspired-schmoe out there (myself included - no disrespect, yo) - Netherlands-based Ready2Rumbl (aka Danny van den Hoonaard) wants to try to make it in the world of vinyl toys. But unlike him, I've done diddley-squat except blog and yap-on about them - whereas Danny has upped and made 3-dimensional sculptures of his creations - to tease and tantilize would-be toy-producers out there, to make his designs into production pieces (Do drop Danny an email at info [at] ready2rumbl.nl). And I be liking 'em from where I'm at :)
The figure shown here is FIRE OLLY. Fire Olly is a fireman elephant. When something is burning, Fire Olly will come to the rescue. His known nemesis is TOXIC OLLY (which fortunately for Fire Olly, still resides as a painting / below-right). I like Toxic Olly. This should come as a set of two Ollys, IMHO.
Fire Olly was first manifest as a 2D painting, seen in 2007 at a group exhibition @ SenorHerandez in Nijmegen, The Netherlands. The current Olly-sculpt shown measures 30cm tall x 35cm long x 16cm wide, and is made out of cardboard and clay. R2R mentions that the ideal size for the figure would be half of it's current size. "I think 50% smaller. That would be nice." - What do YOU guys think? :)
