k-20 legend of the mask: the movie and the toys
The modern world has changed indeed, especially when now I discover a new film via it's toy-release (Ain't it glorious? LOL). I've not had a chance to dig up the story on this K-20 LEGEND OF THE MASK 1/6th-scaled RAH figure from Medicom Toy, when Sideshow Collectibles solicited the figure [www] last week-ish, complete with back-story of the figure.
K-20 (the RAH toy / above) has an estimated 1st quarter ship date (via Sideshow) - complete with a US $224.99-price tag (*gulp*). Then there's also the k-20 KUBRICK & BE@RBRICK Set! (shown below) Blister.jp has it for 2,200YEN (US$24 / SGD$36) for a December 2008-drop.

Based on the Japanese novel Kaijin-20-menso ('Fiend with Twenty Faces') by Edogawa Rampo - K-20 is an upcoming feature film starring Takeshi Kaneshiro as Kaijin Niju Menso, the 'Fiend with Twenty Faces' - a master criminal with a gift for disguise. "His face has never been seen, and his identity has never been revealed. The Fiend performs criminal acts of theft and deception to demonstrate his intelligence, and he shares a mutual respect with detective Kogoro Akechi who regards the Fiend as his greatest foe." K-20 [the movie / www] will be released in Japan December 27th 2008.
Kinda reminds me of The Phantom, The Shadow and all those non-super-powered action-adventurer flicks - and I likes it. In an era of mutants, aliens, gamma-irradiated monsters and grieving billionaire orphans and playboys, a little sense of adventure (with a mask) is refreshing indeed, IMHO.
