Star Wars Galaxy 4 Sketch Cards Q&A with Daniel Cantrell (aka The Horror)

TOYSREVIL: WHO is Daniel Cantrell?

DANIEL CANTRELL: I am Daniel Cantrell aka The Horror. I am an illustrator from the North of England and I also run my own small art zine called Good vs Evil. My website is www.homeofthehorror.com

TOYSREVIL: WHAT was the inspiration behind your sketches? What was the concept you had wanted to portray?

DANIEL CANTRELL: Well, it took me some time to think about this. I thought first to redraw Star Wars characters onto the cards but that is not my style really. I then came up with the idea of having these goofy faces looking shocked because I was a little shocked at doing Star Wars cards and maybe people could be shocked at seeing an ugly little face on their card. .


TOYSREVIL: What was the medium you used? And how long did they take? Are you happy with the result? And how many cards did you do?

DANIEL CANTRELL: I used Sharpies and Fineliners. It took me about two days to finish them all. I am quite happy with them. Everyone did their cards in their style which is what I did. So yeah, I am quite happy. I did 99 cards in all.

TOYSREVIL: What is the Best (or Favourite) and Worst memory of Star Wars you have?

DANIEL CANTRELL: My worst memory was I took a girl on a date to watch Attack of the Clones. She was in a bitchy mood and complained all night. I didn’t enjoy the film because of her. So, after in a bar I told her I was going to the toilet but actually I went to my car and went home!

TOYSREVIL: Youch! If you could be a Star Wars character (from the 6 movies) - who will you be, and why?

DANIEL CANTRELL: Chewbacca for sure! I live in the North of England and all that extra hair would keep me warm. Also, I could get an extra job in the circus as a Freak or something…
