DUNKEYS: Pithecuse & Pithecuse B/W by Coolrain (May 1st-preorder)
Korean urban 1/6-customizer and figure-creator Coolrain drops word of his upcoming two 1/6-creations: DUNKEYS = his second series after MonsterzCrew and his first collaboration work with sEMAN10cM. Pre-orders begin May 1st 2009 for the articulated 1/6th-scaled PITHECUSE and PITHECUSE B/W.

WHAT-IS: DUNKEYS = Dunk + Monkey. Dunkeys are characters that are a apart of a larger story-concept dubbed "preyBall"... CLICK THRU for the "Birth of preyBall" :)
TRE-IMPRESSIONS: It is utterly refreshing to see Coolrain evolve beyond his urban street-wear clad 1/6th-scaled figures (which unfortunately has been accused of riffing Michael Lau for far too long) and into distinct character creations, while still retaining the urban-"flavour". My mecha-lurvin-heart goes out to Pithecuse-B/W for the obvious robotic-arm attachment, and look forward to further basketball-dunking monkeymen as seen from the line-up at the base of this blog-post! Birth of preyBall (text unedited):
"Owing to the powerful network infrastructure, near future with no more leadership of elite group who used to govern the high-end information. Furthermore, the last means of control for the people, sports itself is not the origin of fanatic interest anymore. At last, they forced to revolutionize the sports. People needs more bloods."
"The first test for the new revolutionized sports, that was a basketball game, "preyBall". The rule it applies is same as the existing basketball. The only difference that there is no lost or win. There is hugh amount of prize money for each goals. The money goes to the scored players, not the teams. Therefore we can't expect any teamwork or fraternity in the team.And one more...
Players face Self-controlled moving ball "preyBall" equipped with instinct of strong & cruel A.I neurons. All bodies could be eaten up by "preyBall", if they are in the state of no-defense positions. Players need self-defense system to survive in games. PreBalls are so dangerous. After game starts, no one could enter or go out.
Adding to these, shooting is impossible. PreBall moves and run away from the players. In the end, for the goals, there is no other way than DUNK."
