French designer (and creator of Chaos Monkey) BUNKA gives the classic good-guy MickeyMouse a devious extreme makeover - specifically customed for the Mickey Brand Halo group custom show (organized by 3-MIX and Disney Asia) exhibiting from June 29th til August 2nd @ Times Square, Hong Kong. TOYSREVIL: What is your custom's name? And does the character have a story?
BUNKA: His name is "Chaos Mickey" (In reference to my character Chaos Monkey) ... it's the obscure face of Mickey - its "Mister Hyde".
TOYREVIL: What was the intention of your custom? What did you want to show, or represent?
BUNKA: I wanted to make this character aggressive and skanky by adding his mustache. And I wanted a unhealthy expression, like a "carnivorous".
TOYSREVIL: hhhmmm a tatse for his fellow toys, eh? *COOL* LOL - Am loving the intensity of his portrayal, as well as the sharp color-scheme. Excellent work, I must say! In closing, please tell us a little about yourself? Who Is BUNKA?
BUNKA: Bunka is a French freelance illustrator, he defined his style as a cross-over between cartoon and tattoo art; he is totally obsessed by superheroes, and influenced by artists such as Charles Burns, Mike Mignola, Franck Miller, Mezzo, Robert Crumb, Taiyo Matsumoto, Alan Davis. He worked for clients such as Intel, France 2 (national French TV), L’Oreal/Diesel, Publicis, DDB Louis IVX, Adfunture, Artoyz…
His paintings have been showcased in galleries in Paris, Rennes, Bruxelles, Bilbao, Benidorm, Phoenix, New York, Hong Kong
