Previews for 1Offs Show @ Super7 (Jan 29)
The event text for this Saturday's group custom shown "1Offs go: "From the studios, basements, garages and caves comes the One-Offs show at Super7! Thirty plus artists break down, build up, spray, splatter, polish and destroy vinyl toys to create something one of a kind." [www]. The uniqueness of the show also sees the artists working on "personal visions" incorporating Super7 & Gargamel Toys.
Opening January 29th, 6pm Pacific @ Super7, we have previews in this post from Jeremy Dale aka Valleydweller, Troy Stith, Kirkland Jue and Leecifer (who curated the whole shebang).
CLICK THRU to view now and of course do check out the scene when you're in the area in San Francisco. We've not had a collective-customs post for a while, and this is a real treat for me to post about.
From Jeremy Dale aka ValleyDweller comes a trio of figures - each with stories of their own, which we are esthetic to share here (in Jeremy's own words):
"Big Sal has a red coat and sculpted Vash the Stampede hair, I call him Big Sal the Stampede. An homage to the Trigun anime.
Garuru is the second one I've done, the first belongs to Screaming Sky Gallery in Portland, Oregon. They bought the first one from me at DesignerCon from Spanky's booth. (Grateful that Mikie Graham brought him down, because he was in the Little Monsters show, where he and Steven the Bat were displayed under blacklight, they both glowed in the dark).
This Garuru started as the new brown colored one... Screaming Sky sent me a second one to customize! :) They were kind enough to let this one potentially get away, and let me put it in this show. If it sells, I'll buy a third, and do another custom to send back to them :)
He's called Two Below Garuru, because he looks like he's cold."
Jeremy continues: "Three Mile Steven the bat is a veteran of 2 other shows now (Little Monsters and Designer Con) He got his glowing power by sticking his hands in nuclear reactors. Y'know, for fun. It backfired and he shrunk down but now glows in the dark."
From Troy Stith comes a delightfully multicolored MILTON, who also mentioned: "I got a late invite so I only had time to get this little guy done. Thankfully I had just picked him up before receiving the invite. I guess stuff works out like that some times haha." ~a multiple flavored cone = what's not to like? :)
Kirkland Jue of Toybot Studios shares also a trio of custom-offerings with "Junkyard Ghost", "Rose Deathra" and "Space Mongo". There's always that intense color from Kirkland that makes the figure pop out from the screen, that always makes the toy smexy-lush. Well nice, these :)
From the curator of 1-Offs, Leecifer comes a quartet of custom-knockouts. And in this instance, less talk from me and more cyber-gawking from you folks, would be more appropriate, don't you think? Heh :)
