The World Of Toys on TOYSREVIL (Jan/12/2011)
CLICK THRU for a look at what's hot in the toy-world today, featuring a angry simian, a starry-eyed earth seeker, chinese new year-themed robot, a deceased actress for a BE@RBRICK, collection of brnad-themed toys, and a fictional vehicle in a classic sci-fi film! Do feel free to email me with news and images (for posting consideration) at toysreviler [at] gmail.com.
In their product listing for Jeff Soto's The Seeker (Green "Earth" Version), distributers DKE Toys describes the 11" tall figure (measuring 8.5" from horn tip to horn tip) as such:
"The body, arms, and legs of The Seeker are rotation molded vinyl, while the horns are injection molded ABS plastic. Each figure maintains a simplistic look and feel to keep the simple grace of the character's appearances in Jeff's paintings, but still required a rather complicated paint application to decorate and accentuate the detail in the sculpt."
Produced by Bigshot Toyworks, We previously blogged about the 8 colorway set here. The current Green "Earth" Version retails for US$100 per - featuring a 4 color window box with artwork by Jeff Soto. 13.5" x 9.5" x5" (first time I'm seeing the box, so that's cool.)
DZYPlastics' ANDROID Mini-Figures have been very successful with it's (near) sold out first series. And with an upcoming "Artist Series" coming up, Andrew Bell and folks release a "Special" auspicious Android for the coming Chinese New Year: CAI SHEN - symbolizing the Chinese God of Wealth.
With a SRP of US$10 per - this Asian exclusive Android is available from early-January at Android Fan Store in Taiwan, Hyper Pluse in China, and in our very own Ozzo Collection in Singapore. Am not exactly a huge-fan of this supermarket-festive design, but I'm sure this'll cater to specific tastes of the populace - especially Google-users! Folks who have stuck this on their car dashboards = Honk Along, Please! LOL
We first posted about the 10" tall All-Black / "Secret" DA STURM from Tim Tsui back in 2010's STGCC (feels like a lifetime ago, doesn't it? :p). Limited to just 88pcs, a set cantity of which has since been sold out at ToyQube (for US$94.99) - but fear not - do keep a watchout at the Team Zero online shop for eventual listing, and purchase straight from the artist :)
I've always wondered what it took to be able to work with Hong Kong designer Michael Lau …. A good production track record? Friendship? Or perhaps all these and more … How much work did it take for London's Maharishi brand to release a collaborative toy collection of ML-toys, in their distinctive orange and olive green colorways, with camo? Does it matter? Apparently released since Jan 8th, be on the lookout for duo MR SHOES, a NYFATCAP and a TOOBIGFOOT, at their London store (not too sure about online sources, but am sure ML-fans are googling that right now, or have been LOL). And apologies, I have zero info on cost and quantity.

Toy2R releases an image of the next 5" Mini Qee character - the Bunee Mini Qee (above-right) - with a February drop-schedule (perfect for a Chinese New Year of The Rabbit, innit?) and a SRP of US$15. Featuring articulated arms and heads, this no doubt will not be the only DIY-figure to come - as teased by the above-left TOYER Mini Qee, which was actually released last year. Also look out for new "Artist Editions" to come.
Since Medicom Toy's BE@RBRICK Series 21 has been released (since December 2010) - it has been revealed that the "secret" companion to the Deceased "LAURA PALMER" figure (who changes color with water applied! Info-thanks to SuperPunch), is in fact the 1/48 ratio'd DALE COOPER - both from Twin Peaks! Quite the toy-citment for me actually, and I look forward to hunting both of these down eventually (well, when I get out of my wheelchair, innit? Heh).
Truthfully, I can do without the entire series - well, except of course for the Daft Punk/Tron-duo - and perhaps the "vintage" BATMAN and retro SUPERMAN figure (1/48 ratio). Do check out more variants on the Instintoy-blog (pics via).
Wow. The existence of this threw me for a quick-loop. Released alongside Blu-ray edition of Blade Runner Ultimate Collector's Edition is this MAV POLICE SPINNER from Medicom Toy! Measuring 235mm long, the Spinner comes window boxed in a package tagged at ¥15,540, and can be purchased online at Project 1/6. If you must know, the blu-ray features the "Final Cut / Workprint"). Why oh why is this not the DVD-edition? *Sigh*
