1000-tenacles-sculpt

WanKok of www.1000tentacles.com  explains that the sculpt is the result of a cross-over project with Malaysian designer Ask Kwan.  The initial sculpt is titled "KAWAN" (which means "friend" in Malay) in the insert-pic, with the finished sculpt by WanKok, who shares with TOYSREVIL his thought-process:

"I always love rabbit theme and also find (the) astronaut suit very interesting.  For this project, I had decided to merge these 2 elements together.  This character is from a rabbit clan in a remote place which suffers serious pollution, that is why you can see the tubes and all that in the sculpture.  The main character travels a lot to find a better place to stay and this is also in his blood to seek out adventures.  This explain some of the gears you see especially the backpack."

Am personally really loving the aesthetics here, as it reminds me of maniacal illustrated Taiwan/Eastern comicbooks of the 90s I had read and enjoyed! The non-hatching style of illustration reminds me too of European infused art, likened to Moebius. As well I am really enjoying the artwork viewable on the Malaysian design duo's blog at http://behind1000tentacles.blogspot.com/ ~ of which there are oddles of behind-the-scenes making-of this sculpt.

WanKok concludes: "Besides this, I have recently finished another sculpture project, Project Cat (temp name) which is going to be casted out and for sale.  The current one you see (the rabbit) is not for commercial purposes, but rather more of a cross over project.  Once I finished casted Project Cat, which will be in limited edition, will start to release the news and photos."

Looking forward to the pics, WanKok!
