Event Images for Charity Event for Japan Tsunami Relief @ The Other Culture (April 2)
Here we have selected snaps for the "Charity Event for Japan Tsunami Relief" at The Other Culture which happened Saturday night, as organized by Plastic Culture. Featuring snaps from both Johanes Djauhari aka Saltnpaper (widescreen-form snaps via) and David Tan of Filmoo, who also provided us with information about what happened on scene! Shown directly above are the items donated by folks to the initiative, to be auctioned off at the end of the event! At the end of 4 hours, close to $1,300 was raised! Congrats everyone!
Do read thru to find out what happened, as well peep mondo-more images on the TOYSREVIL Facebook-album, as well as P.C.'s album. Ready? Set? ONWARDS!
The event started with the introduction by Joshua, which followed by live music from Ray of Light, Bunga and the band, with special appearance by Joshua!
Outside of the shop, live sculpting was in effect, featuring Erwin "The Mongar" - sculpting who are sculpting Wolverine out from his trademark character Toasterboy, and as well another sculpt showcasing a demon head subsequently.
Not too long later, other artists joined in the fun and crowded the table and seats, each sketching or customizing on their Munnys, with Thunderpanda and Saltnpaper in the mix. Arno Fauzie also joined in the fray illustrating live a drawing for auction, and as well Silvia Tampi customizing yet another OMI (we first posted her earlier custom here).
One of the interesting artwork that folks have apparently been talking about, were the "Sad Godzilla" from Challid and the "Scary Lady" made by Irene (an absolute "first timer" egged on by David) with her artwork shown above - exciting!
Media coverage came from University TV, who interviewed Abell Octovan who spoke at length about "designer toys" (wish we had a video of that tho LOL)
One of the highlights of the night came in the form or auctions with prizes sponsored by The Loyal Subjects. As well toys from Jason Siu (sponsored by Win) and the special edition Kung Pow from Bowo. And yes, a Mega Munny was also on the bidding block (which was a spontaneous auction, and not pre-determined it seems!
As well a surprise came in the form of Goji The Dino, courtesy of David Tan, who managed to secure one of the figures for "Roy" - who may well be the first dude to touch a "No.1" serial number from the limit of 30 pieces! Congrats all around!
David Tan rounds it up for us: "…at the end of the day, i have to say another cool event from plastic culture especially this time for the charity cause, donation will proceed via world harvest. and in 2 weeks, the event continues, still in the mood for Japan, but this time it's for Kaiju lover, the exhibition!"
Thanks to Johanes and David for the snaps!
As well check out our earlier-post with updated images for David's "Sorry, Japan" photo-initiative. Dude, you should email your submission to the "Ganbatte Nippon!"-folks on Facebook!
