Tarnished Daydreams Feature: Arbuthnot Wince *The Poisoner* by Doktor A
TOYSREVIL: This looks to be the hallmark piece to your show. The figure and as well the accessories tell so much of a story than it looks, IMHO.
As well I am amazed by your craft not just for the final toy-custom, but also your sense of story-telling, enhanced with the text you provide. I actually do imagine some of your figures move a twitch, a buzz, whenever I look at them online! Am I hallucinating?
DOKTOR A: Yes you are hallucinating Andy. You need to get more sleep fellow.. Really take a few more breaks, we will wait for you to get better after your ordeal.
This is the first time I have mixed Rupture in with the Mechtorians world. It was suggested by the form of the toy and worked so well. Again its that element of character/furniture I played off here. And the urge to have a go at some gilding. In the flesh that little bottle space glows like its lit from inside. I wanted to get the feeling of a religious artifact almost. Some reliquary, some bottle of unspeakable potency.
STORY: It was originally supposed that Mechtorians could not be harmed by the effects of poison due to their mechanical nature. However Arbuthnot accidentally discovered the unusual side effects from application of small amounts of toxic venom distilled from the spittle of his pet, an indigenous beast he called Rupture. He discovered that his unsuspecting fellow robots could indeed be paralysed for prolonged periods of time. So like the state of death was this paralysis that he was concerned his victims would be buried or dismantled in error. He continues to research and stockpile poisons for his own entertainment. One day he may even use them…
