Because they did not have any memorable villains or nemesis, to battle for dear life, and make them look good. Hey I enjoyed Billy Zane's celluloid-turn as any non-comicbook follower did, but would be interested to see a reboot of this character, IMHO. Hey, a skull and the color purple is as pretty darn unique a visual icon as it gets, no?
