Asmus Toys X OH SHIT vs WAVE MONKEY @ Taipei Toy Festival 2011
One of the most impressive sprawled-out booth-display at Taipei Toy Festival (www) has to be these series of 1/6th-scaled figures (presumably) from ASMUS TOYS X OH SHIT vs WAVE MONKEY - in a serious selection of figurines, that frankly leaves me drooling beyond traditional "production pieces". But hey, I might not have exact product info, but luckily there are snaps to oogle-at, yeh? Let's have a look thru at what looks to be a uber-cool selection of kitbashes, shall we?

Looking to be post-Apocalyptical neon-party folks showcase individually at the event. Interesting by itself, but I wonder if together, do they have a story or concept (beyond my own speculative opinion, of course).

One of my favorite diorama set-ups for this display, is what looks like a massive post-Apocalyptical setup featuring cyborg-figured terrorizes (or "freedom fighters"?). Gnarly-cool - especially the dude with the stogy and the cyborg-armed soldier.

The second of three dioramas, and perhaps the more controversial one (to me, at least) is the showcasing of a trio of characters in a hostage situation. Looking somewhat uncomfortable (the scene that is to unfold), the characters are in turn decked out in swell kitbashed gear -looking like they'd populate the "seedier" part of Neo-Tokyo (in the Japanese anime "Akira"). Nice one tho.
Another series of figures (which I tern "Urban Characters") feature more "urban-themed" styles with "designer toy" headsculpts - less thematic and more individual streetwear-clad folks (with the lone-exception of the weapon-totting perp. Am unsure if they are selling individual clothes or entire figure-sets tho.

The final of three dioramas on display, is this urban/streetwear-boutique on 1/6th and it left me drooling. All the memories and desires for 1/6th-scaled streetwear-desires come flooding back into mind, (and also a fond memory of Giveme5ive's all-white boutique from years back LOL) and that's a swell thing to behind, IMHO.

A celeb-dancer/teacher in Taiwan (I forgot his name for a mo), this facesculpt likeness of him is truly exceptional )although it does make him more "macho" than the real person's look, IMHO). One of the flagship products on show from Asmus Toys x OH SHIT vs WAVE MONKEY - here are even "designer-vinyl"-styled sculpts and customs to show too! (Wish I had more snaps for that tho).
