Ultra Squid Girl for Super7 @ SDCC 2011
One of the most intriguing and evocative prototype shown at San Diego Comic-Con recently has got to be - in my humble opinion - ULTRA SQUID GIRL from Kathie Olivas and Brandt Peters of Circus Posterus for Super7. Initially I had thought it to be two separate figures, when in actual fact, one actually covers over the other, to form a single figure (the serene looking "squiddy" form over the mangled faced character with a spike on top of his/her head).
By now, this particular news is over a week-"old", but what I have yet to see (and hope to soon) is an actual video capture of the item stacking on top and over the other = now THAT would put a lot of oomph in folks' desires (moreso than ever before) and I don't even need to see the figure in color! This is one of the extremely few figures I have seen that looks as spectacular as it is unpainted, IMHO. Look for the figure set to be released Fall 2011, and from looking at the size comparison to a 4" tall Big Sal, this figure looks to be a whopper! (even if this is a 1-Up sculpt and there's shrinkage!)
