Artist Alley @ Anime Festival Asia 2011
Prior to exhibiting at Anime Festival Asia (www.animefestival.asia), I was pretty oblivious to the existence of "Artist Alley" at the event, knowing instead I had thre chance to helm a "Dojin Booth" - which according to Wiki - it meant: "a general Japanese term for a group of people or friends who share an interest, activity, hobbies, or achievement. … In Japan the term is used to refer to amateur self-published works (Dōjinshi), including but not limited to manga, novels, fan guides, art collections, music and video games. Some professional artists participate as a way to publish material outside the regular publishing industry." - so regardless of names called, it was a swell place to hang out for indie and/or aspiring artists (and blogs promoting their brand, of course *cough*).
Situated right next to the dedicated Anime Theater - the locale was at times a thoroughfare for folks out to look for non-big-brands which held court at the front of the event hall (aka Bandai, Good Smile Co etc) and a hot-bed for indie artwork of anime characters and fanart - adorning badges, calendars, posters and other stuff that would be able to fit on a 1M x 50CM table (and of course two panels behind) … and yes, do look for the TOYSREVIL table at Artit Alley in STGCC next year! *Muahahahahaha*
Check out more images of most of the booths via my Facebook-album HERE (some with links to the individual participant's websites - if I am missing any, please feel free to add-on and tag yourselves!
