Wrap-Up for Star Wars Day Bandung 2012
Held last Sunday June 24th @ Gedung Indonesia Menggugat, was "Star Wars Day Bandung" - a one day only event which celebrated all-things Star Wars. Yudi Andhika aka The Yellow Dino had mentioned to me that they had initially expected a conservative target of 100 to 300 visitors for the event (consisting mostly family and friends), but about 1,500-2000 visitors turned out that day, which was quite a shock, and no doubt a delight!
Apparently local media came to cover the event as well, and that was due to Media Invites, because non were sent out! Also spotted on the local news were messages in the screen-crawlers mentioning the event. So in all, a "huge success" was SWDBDG!
According to Marin Ramdhani of My Tummy Toys, they were blown away by the response for the event, and had even seen "celebrities" and folks whom they would not necessarily expect to be connected to the Star Wars lore, turn up for this one day affair. Nice.
SWDBDG was a private initiative from a group of collectors and fans, and with the support of the fellow fanboy community, made this event a reality, and not necessarily with a "profit" minded intent. Commendable be this project, and kudos for their success!

TOYSREVIL is proud to play a small part as one of the Media Partners for Star Wars Day Bandung, and you can read all the event coverage by clicking on THIS link, and as well dedicated an entire Sunday on the blog to all-things-Star Wars! It was awesome fun, and even a chance for me to geek-out alongside folks and friends - let's do it again soon!
We might enjoy the movies over and over again, and perhaps even get our kicks at local conventions when folks cosplay as Storm Troopers and characters, but for a dedicated genre-event like this, remains a figment of folks' imagination? May The Force Be With You, regardless :)
