Lisa Rae Hansen: Q&A + Seen @ ToyConUK 2013
I spoke with Lisa Rae Hansen of I Break Toys (love the name already lol) of her experience with the inaugural ToyConUK, where she debuted a series of original character designs and sculpts, that certainly had me sitting up, and you should too! *Read-ON!*
TOYSREVIL: How was the ToyCon for you? Your impressions? Was it what you expected it to be? Was this your first Con?
LISA RAE HANSEN: ToyCon was fantastic!! It was my first con as an attendee and exhibitor and it was more than I could have ever expected it to be. I met so many people that I've only known and worked with in the virtual world, so meeting people for real was so important for me and meeting the public and toy fans was an invaluable experience when I am mainly slaving away in your own little world in the north of Scotland, and especially as I am a very new face in the scene. The work available to buy at the event was pretty special, there was a lot to choose from.
TOYSREVIL: Tell us what you had on your table! And which of your items had the warmest reception / best response?
LISA RAE HANSEN: I had 3 main releases, MegaSeth, Small Wunders and Way Cool Junior Society plus prints and some customs. MegaSeth sold really well, and the feedback I received on all my work was tremendous. I also contributed a few artist customs to other booths and the Giant War Tourist which was proudly displayed at the entrance with Jon-Paul Kaiser's.
TOYSREVIL: Any suggestions to make the event even more awesome in the future?
LISA RAE HANSEN: The obvious one which is the natural progression from here is to be bigger, more tickets, more people. The ToyCon organisers did a fantastic job and I think everyone involved, be it attendee or exhibitor was pretty thrilled with the experience. Everyone has gone away thinking about next year, that's always a good sign!
MegaSeth will go on sale in Fugi.me on Thursday night, 6pm GMT. My remaining resin releases and artist custom Monster Embryo and QiQi will go on sale very soon in my store www.ibreaktoys.storenvy.com. The Giant War Tourist "Endzone" is currently for sale at www.planetdomu.bigcartel.com and my Little Ox custom "War Horse" is for sale at www.alto.bigcartel.com (below):
