Personally to me, the notion of the 1/6th-scaled hobby sits extremely awkwardly in the DTAs, as it hardly represents the spectrum of the hobby in that this particular art toy culture might embrace the notion and collectibility of, but for the collection of art toy-based fans, in the first place, hence the nominations.
As the finalists were voted by the buying public, is this indeed the length and breath of what the art toy culture think 1/6 is about? … but then again, maybe I am over-thinking here, aren't I? LOL
Be that as it may, of the nine finalists, only 4 disparate brands are being represented, in total. The winning piece might be an expected piece, or it might well be a "surprise", but nevertheless, it's all about the "toys" in the first place, no?
This particular category is closed to public voting, and will be up to a closed panel of judges to choose the sole winner. There is a whole arena of brands in toy culture, and a lot of them are entrenched within the specific 1/6-hobby itself, and I would hope one day, they would gain a wider recognition that they deserve.
