International Platform Toy Exhibition @ Bangkok Comic Con 2014

POST-BKKCOMICCON ENTRY: Amidst the predominantly mass media licensed characters on show at Bangkok Comic Con 2014, stood a lone "oddity" that which was the "International Platform Toy Exhibition" - a collection of over 80 pieces that which represented the "art toy" culture - a culture whose name of the designer/creator was as important as the name of the toy was. A culture were the pieces had a quantifiable limited run of production pieces. A culture represented in a Land of Smiles, along with placards describing them, and introducing them to the masses.

Kudos to the organizers for making this happen. I still remember the first incarnation of the Platform Toy Society on display at "CE Contest 2" circa 2012, a humbler selection of pieces, now exploding into the subconsciousness of the masses.

**CLICK HERE to view mondo-more images of the DIYs on display on my dedicated Facebook album! And do feel free to TAG yourselves, if your toy/brand is showcased in the pics :)

Aside, I've had a few comments on my www-streams about certain pieces not being represented, but the reality was, there had been an open call for submissions! This was not a closed privately curated collection, but an opportunity for anyone and everyone to participate in, and be a part of!

And while I've not asked directly the organizers how they will proceed or what incarnation will the DIYs adopt "the next time", I would recommend interested parties to contact them directly at mafiafactory@hotmail.com for enquiries, AND of course to continue reading this humble blog of men for updates :)

ORIGINAL POST: The first International Platform Toy Exhibition launched at Bangkok Comic Con 2014 on July 4th - showcasing over 80 x DIY art toy figures we've come to know and love working on! What I truly enjoy about this collection, is the mix of Western and Eastern toys, presenting a truly "international" selection - familiar to folks who dwell in this art toy world of us (and on my blog), but is also a chance to introduce themselves to the general public, IMHO.

Check them out at Royal Paragon Hall (5th floor of Siam Paragon) exhibiting thru to July 6th. And while the toys are generally not available to purchase, you can score the CEs at the MAFIA Factory booth D17! Tell'em TOYSREVIL sent'ya! Also check out more "live" from the site pics via my Instagram @toysrevil and hashtags #toysrevilbkk + #bkkcomiccon
