The Green Turtle & Blank Slate DIY Joins the Amazing Heroes on Kickstarter

Two slices of toys news relating to the Amazing Heroes on Kickstarter, with the first being the addition of a new hero: THE GREEN TURTLE! The Green Turtle figure will be limited to 300 pieces and is offered as part of an exclusive six-figure set that will only be available on Kickstarter/Fresh Monkey Fiction. (Gene Luen Yang has also made available some signed posters of The Shadow Hero for only US$14).

"Created during wartime by Chinese American artist Chu Hing in 1944, The Green Turtle was the first Asian superhero, briefly appearing in Blazing Comics. The character was revisited by Gene Luen Yang (American Born Chinese) and Sonny Liew (My Faith in Frankie) in their acclaimed graphic novel The Shadow Hero (First Second Books). Due to the period’s racism, Hing cleverly kept his hero in the shadows—his face obscured to hide his nationality. Now, in the 21st century, The Green Turtle is allowed to openly add to the diversity of today’s ever-progressing comic book medium.

Fresh Monkey Fiction announces the "Blank Slate" DIY figure as part of its line of classic superhero Amazing Heroes action figures. Standing 4.5" tall and comes in a standard white color, with 2 interchangeable heads, one with hair and one without. Also available is the "Mindless Minions 2 Pack"(also with interchangeable heads) so you can build an army of DIY figures to customize into your own creations. The "Blank Slate" and the “Mindless Minion” 2 Pack are available now on Kickstarter for only for $15.00, or you can get a set of 2 figures for $25.00.
