EVENT PRESS: "The Japanese American National Museum presents Hello! Exploring the Supercute World of Hello Kitty, the first large-scale Hello Kitty museum retrospective in the United States.
Organized as part of the global icon’s 40th-anniversary celebrations, the exhibition examines the colorful history of Hello Kitty and her influence on popular culture. Hello! includes an extensive product survey, with rare and unique items from the Sanrio archives, alongside a selection of innovative contemporary artworks inspired by Hello Kitty and her world.
Hello! is curated by Christine Yano, PhD, author of Pink Globalization: Hello Kitty’s Trek Across the Pacific, and Jamie Rivadeneira, founder and owner of the Los Angeles pop culture boutique JapanLA.
Hello! Exploring the Supercute World of Hello Kitty is a specially ticketed exhibition." (Cut-n-Pasted from www.janm.org)

And while I probably may well be the last website in the wwworld to feature this since it's launch, but nevertheless how culled I let an exhibition incept like this let pass my love for pop culture(which extends to even ribboned and mouthless cats / not-a-cat / still-a-cat)!
Posted here are a select few images of the artworks on display, featuring work from artists familiar with the TOYSREVIL-blog, including tokidoki, Mark Ngata of Max Toy Co, Martin Hsu, Junko Mizuno, Gary Baseman, Audrey Kawasaki, TADO (there's even a video too!) and bygawds the humongous awesomeness that which is the sculpture from Colin Christian!
Apologies for missing anyone else though - not necessarily my intention - I snagged whatever pics I could find :p

Here is my own sketch of that cat (… although I would not disagree with you if you insisted "no ribbon, not kitty!"), and I admit, I do collect her stuff, just not too hardcore of a collector tho! LOL
