Thailand Comic Con 2015 @ Siam Paragon, Bangkok (May 1-3)
While Thailand Toy Expo deals in the "high-end collectibles" of the toy spectrum, the annual Thailand Comic Con (May 1-3, 2015) is a decidedly mass appeal affair, with offering different genres primarily featuring comics and cosplay as well - more likened to a "comics convention" in the West. Their tagline is "the biggest pop culture event in Thailand".
Notable names for this year include Simon Legno of tokidoki, DEVILROBOTS and Pop Mhan (DC Comics' Masters of the Universe artist / thanks for the headsup David Floyd!). You can check out more info on their Facebook page.
One thing I like about this event (I've never been, I missed it last year when I was invited there for Bangkok Comic Con), is that there is a quite a number of representations of local/Thailand based artists/artisans.
Check out the layout map and make your way to support them!
And what a weekend it would be! TTE runs April 30 to May 3rd, while TCC happens May 1st to the 3rd at Royal Paragon Hall on the 5th floor at Siam Paragon mall. And if you can transverse both locations via the BTS Skytrain, I'd advise it versus taking the cab, IMHO. Not that TCC is a ticket entrance tho.
"Siam Paragon is on Rama I Road in Pathum Wan district, and is adjacent to other shopping areas. It is next door to Siam Center and Siam Discovery Center and opposite Siam Square. MBK Center is also nearby. An elevated walkway beneath the BTS Skytrain tracks links Siam Paragon to the Ratchaprasong intersection, where CentralWorld, Gaysorn and several other shopping malls and hotels are located." (Wiki)
