you know when you go to the local zoo, and you see them monkeys and apes behind the bars in their enclosure, and then you mimic them - arms curled up to your elbows, scratching, and making money sounds?

DON’T. They’ll murder you one day.

Well, in the reel world, perhaps!

WAR FOR THE PLANET OF THE APES is the third in a trilogy of prequel films for the ’70s-film series, starting with “Rise of the Planet of the Apes” (2011), then “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes” (2014), and now Woody Harrelson shaves his head bald and readies to make war on simians.

I love how the trailer starts with a lingering look at the seaside/seafront, where folks might remember the Statue of Liberty lies sticking out of the sand, revealed at the end of the 1968 film!

POTA has become an iconic aspect of pop culture, with it’s roots in the books and retro films, and since morphing into fashion and lifestyles thru the decades via concepts such as Japan’s A Bathing Ape and it’s ilk. I certainly remembered scouring the markets for POTA Kubricks from Medicom Toy, and lorded after the 12" action figures with fabrics clothes (pre-Sideshow Toys too, fhanks LOL).

Directed By Matt Reeves, WAR FOR THE PLANET OF THE APES will be in U.S. theaters on July 14, 2017
