This Week On #iliketeevee
A slew of upcoming television shows were revealed the past week, and I’ve since featured select genres on my #iliketeevee tv-blog - of which I am featuring them HERE on TOYSREVIL! (Yes, I’m pimpin’ and showing sum lurve for other blogs in the TOYSREVIL Mafia Blog-Ring, and YES, IT EXISTS).
Admittedly, my attention veers further towards all forms of “media” these salad days, having been unable to enjoy “collectible toys” as I had before the bank account is going thru some “challenges”, but the online media landscape is blossoming in it’s place, and I am glad my attention is not left wanting!
“POWERFUL AF”, indeed!
Here are a few upcoming shows which had piqued my interests:
ABOUT “STAR TREK: DISCOVERY”: ”Set roughly ten years before the events of the original series, Star Trek: Discovery shows a never before seen era that shaped Federation history. First Officer Michael Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green) encounters new ships, worlds and villains as the threat of war looms.” (Poster Image & Stills HERE on #iliketeevee).
ABOUT “BLACK LIGHTNING”: ”Jefferson Pierce is a man wrestling with a secret. Nine years ago, Pierce was gifted with the superhuman power to harness and control electricity, which he used to keep his hometown streets safe as the masked vigilante Black Lightning…” (Read more HERE on #iliketeevee).
“Black Lightning” is a NEW comicbook superhero adaptation joining The CW stable of characters - which includes “Arrow”, “The Flash”, “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow” and now “Supergirl”. There has been “confirmation” that “Black Lightning” is not a part of the Arrowverse.”
ABOUT “THE DARK CRYSTAL: AGE OF RESISTANCE”: "The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance returns to the world of Thra with an all new adventure. When three Gelfling discover the horrifying secret behind the Skeksis’ power, they set out on an epic journey to ignite the fires of rebellion and save their world.” (Read more HERE on #iliketeevee).
The re-emergence of a classic 80’s cult hit goes beyond the ReAction figures and into the NOW, very aptly via television too.
ABOUT “THE GIFTED”: ”Action-adventure family drama THE GIFTED, from Marvel, tells the story of a suburban couple whose ordinary lives are rocked by the sudden discovery that their children possess mutant powers. Forced to go on the run from a hostile government, the family joins up with an underground network of mutants and must fight to survive.” (Read more HERE on #iliketeevee).
ABOUT “OKJA”: ”For 10 idyllic years, young Mija (An Seo Hyun) has been caretaker and constant companion to Okja—a massive animal and an even bigger friend—at her home in the mountains of South Korea. But that changes when a family-owned multinational conglomerate Mirando Corporation takes Okja for themselves and transports her to New York, where image obsessed and self-promoting CEO Lucy Mirando (Tilda Swinton) has big plans for Mija’s dearest friend.” (Read more HERE on #iliketeevee).
"Other" interesting looks as well include;
- The period whodunit “The Alienist” based in New York City (On TNT).
- The “magician-slash-law-enforcement-consultant” procedural show “Deception” (On ABC).
- The supernatural-comedy by-way-of-Ghostbusters (but with NO Proton-packs) “Ghosted” (On FOX).
- Female Wrestlers of the 70’s in “Glow” (On Netflix).
- Season 5 of “Orange Is The New Black” (On Netflix).
- Parody of Star Trek with “The Orville” (On FOX).
- A new promo for “Preacher” Season 2, along with new key art posted up top :)
… oh, and DARK MATTER is back with Season 3!
Cheers,
Andy
