A Lookback at #SDCC2018: Feature Film Trailers
And while I've previously featured "Collectibles", THIS post however, features the media-fueled Genre Feature Film Trailers launched during/around the 4 1/2 day San Diego Comic Con 2018 (July 18-22), including mentions of controversial happenings during the period.
Director James Wan's AQUAMAN official trailer finally launched at SDCC, starring Jason Mamoa as "Arthur Curry" AKA "Aquaman", just as his (possible) "classic" costume-colors were "revealed" by a Hot Toys' 1/6th figure!
DC's next foray into the silver screens sees SHAZAM! starring Zachery Levi as the comicbook-named "Captain Marvel" (tricky, with Marvel's "Captain Marvel" in play as well :p), with the first teaser trailer looking really "fun" too = not something I'd refer to a DC film since the Snyderverse-era :p

Another notable feature film was represented at SDCC this year: Wonder Woman 1984, with a leaked footage circulating online since SDCC, including the above still snaps!
Both the director Patty Jenkins and star Gal Gadot has mentioned this film was not a "sequel" to the 2017-success ... which somehow made (warped) sense, when DC "announced" the "Worlds of DC" umbrella banner for their cinematic projects (folks referred tp "DC Extended Universe", but apparently that was NOT an "official" name), which equates to me alternative endless iterations of their character and stories, ala "Elseworlds" or "Multiverse".
Sony's VENOM feature film made an appearance at SDCC, along with footage (not "leaked" online, but possibly officially released this week or the next...) and the showing of a multitude of symbiote-infused creatures, colour-coded too? Hmmmmmm...
Ryan Reynolds & crew introduces the "DEADPOOL 2 Super Duper Cut" ... which during that time I'd been utterly jazzed for, as I've yet to watch the film (#trustory) ... but since have very recently, AND it was a fantabulous ride, and I still cannot wait for the "Super Duper Cut"! MUAHAHAHAHAHA
And while neither Disney nor Marvel was at Hall H for this year's SDCC, their "presence" was felt, with the news of director James Gunn's dismissal from the 3rd "Guardians of the Galaxy" film, based on controversial 8-9 year-old tweets had been dug up.
""The offensive attitudes and statements discovered on James' Twitter feed are indefensible and inconsistent with our studio's values, and we have severed our business relationship with him," Walt Disney Studios chairman Alan Horn said in a statement Friday." (hollywoodreporter.com)
Comicbook-nerdery thanks to M. Night Shyamalan mashing-up of his previous two movies; "Unbreakable" (2000) and "Split" (2016) into a single universe with the trailer for "GLASS" completing the threequel.
And while I'd not been a huge convert of the first "Fantastic Beasts", the sequel "Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald" looks to be quite brutal, and I like it like that!
This specific trailer is "technically" a "cheat", as although the movie's presence was overt at SDCC, the trailer itself premiered "globally" after the event had ended - witness Robert Rodriguez's ALITA: BATTLE ANGEL!
The "best-of-show" (to me personally) HAD to be the first full trailer for GODZILLA: KING OF MONSTERS! What? Not keen to see a quartet of kaijus mixing it up on the silver screens? LOL
SDCC returns July 17-21, 2019!
