A Lookback at #SDCC2018: Television Is Not Dead
With The CW releasing a whole hoggin' SLEW of DC Comics character show trailers at San Diego Comic Con 2018 (July 18-22), and Marvel's dismally short-list of likewise superhero-themed projects, folks might have missed out on "other" series trailers premiered during SDCC - which has been posted on my TV-blog but not HERE on TOYSREVIL - showcasing both LIVE ACTION and ANIMATED shows!
Scroll forth, and Be Entertained! :)
"F**K BATMAN"! said actor Brenton Thwaites's grown-up "Robin", and you know this isn't your "regular" "Teen Titans Go"-sort of show! (Featured #onTOYSREVIL & on #iliketeevee).
Developed by Warner Bros. Television (alongside titles such as "Swamp Thing" and "Doom Patrol"), this live-action action adventure series is scheduled to debut in late-2018, watchable exclusively via their paid "DC Universe" portal.
New Doctor, New Sonic Screwdriver. And while actress Jodie Whittaker had been revealed nearly a year ago the 13th Doctor, folks had a "first look" at brand new Doctor Who trailer for Season 11 (Featured on #iliketeevee), and the release of the Sonic Screwdriver collectible circa SDCC (#srsly?).
And while I've yet to totally regale my absolute enjoyment of the first season, CBS All Access has since debuted the official Comic-Con Trailer for the second season of "Star Trek: Discovery" - which thankfully Netflix Asia has a video to share (CBS videos do not play in our region). Looks to be hella more "action" this round too ... not too sure how I feel about that ... at least they could've released memorabilia at SDCC ... better than a "sonic screwdriver", innit? (Yes I am biased :p).
Check out officially released production stills since uploaded HERE on #iliketeevee :)
AMC had released a Comic Con Trailer for "PREACHER Season 3", where we get a first look at the introductions of the Allfather and Eccarius and all the wild action from the second half of Preacher’s craziest season yet ... and I haven't seen started the season yet myself! (Full poster image on #iliketeevee)
AMC also released the official Season 9 trailer for "The Walking Dead". New world. New rules. The Walking Dead returns for Season 9 on Sunday, October 7 at 9/8c.
The CW is cornering the tween/teen market with DC superhero shows, and genre-fuelled programming, including;
"LEGACIES" (Screengrabs on #iliketeevee) where a lady born of a vampire and werewolf lineage, not to mention the "witch" joo-joo, makes for an irresistible tv show, filled and fueled by pretty girls and boys - what's not to love? "It's their story now. Legacies premieres Thursday, October 25 on The CW."
Riverdale Season 3 returns Wednesday, October 10 on The CW. I'd been such a fan of Season 1, but the excitement fizzled out when Season 2 dwelled on the Hood, and lost my attention, alas.
Late-90s-early-2000s sci-fi tv series "Roswell" makes a return after three seasons, with the three young alien/human hybrids with extraordinary gifts being rebooted as "Roswell, New Mexico", courtesy of The CW... law, no Shiri Appleby? (I heart her in unREAL).
The first trailer for the Russo Bros' "Deadly Class" is here. Premiering on SYFY somewhen in 2019, "Deadly Class" is an upcoming American television action-thriller series based on the comic book series of the same name (Featured on #iliketeevee).
Call it a "Assassination Class"-riff, if you wish, but I've not read the comicbook source material to ascertain this claim, and would rather just enjoy what I see here instead :)
Two human princes forge an unlikely bond with the elfin assassin sent to kill them, embarking on an epic quest to bring peace to their warring lands. All episodes of The Dragon Prince (Aaron Ehasz, Avatar: The Last Airbender) streaming September 14, 2018 on Netflix. Check it the full image of the teaser poster since posted HERE on #iliketeevee :)
Misadventure awaits! "Disenchantment", the new animated series from The Simpsons creator Matt Groening, premieres August 17th on Netflix. See TWO versions of posters HERE on #iliketeevee, as well continually covered #onTOYSREVIL.
Highly anticipated by fans and picking up after the dramatic events of Season 2, "Young Justice: Outsiders" finds our heroes reuniting to take down a metahuman trafficking organization. View more HERE on #iliketeevee!
"Star Wars: The Clone Wars" was an American 3D CGI animated television series created by George Lucas and produced by Lucasfilm Animation with the division Lucasfilm Animation Singapore, Lucasfilm and CGCG Inc. The series debuted on Cartoon Network in 2008, and ended in 2014 (Previously featured HERE).
