#SpiritusDea Dunny Reveals from Stickymonger, Mizna Wada & Stephanie Buscema for Kidrobot
Ramping up reveals before their Friday, September 27th release on Kidrobot.com (at 10am MT), and at select retailers, Kidrobot showcases a trio of "Death"-themed goddess, for their "Spiritus Dea" 3-inch tall Dunny series - which you can scroll thru to view;
"Santa Muerte (design by @kitschywitchdesigns by @StephBuscema) is a Mexican deity and folk saint whose name translates to “Holy Death” – this 3" figure within the Spiritus Dea series extends the collection of the SOLD-OUT 8" Santa Muerte Dunny. Associated with healing, protection, and safe delivery to the afterlife by her devotees, she is mostly portrayed as a skeletal figure clad in a long robe, often holding a scythe. Despite being condemned by the catholic church, her popularity continues to rise in modern Mexico. Stephanie Buscema says that Santa Muerte’s openness, love and acceptance of all people who seek her aid inspired Buscema to honor the deity."
"Arachne (design by @miznawada), is a spider goddess who had once been a highly skilled weaver (and mortal), who dared challenge Greek Goddess Athena to a weave-off. Accounts vary on who triumphed, but ultimately Arachne was punished for her hubris by being transformed into a spider. 🕷️ Mizna Wada was lured to this design by Arachne's arrogant heart and artistic talent. The end result is a striking, bewitching Dunny with eight arms."
"Moirai (design by @stickymonger) translates to "The Fates" and is the name of the three Greek goddesses who determine the individual destinies of all people. Clotho (the spider), spins the thread of life while Lachesis (the snake) measures its length and Atropos (the caterpillar) cuts the thread with shears. In designing this piece, Stickymonger was drawn to The Fates while considering her own life, stating "I'm endlessly trying to resolve how to bring my own life to the next level. But I also feel that power comes from creating your own prophecy. Declare your fate, and then create it.""
Also revealed is the above-featured variant colorway of @stickymonger's "Moirai", to be received by the "first 50 orders at Kidrobot.com with 20+ blind boxes of the Spiritus Dea Dunny Series". Unknown of this edition is also available via retailer(s), so maybe you'd wanna check in with your favs :)
