Brian McCarty (Insta @brianmccarty) has since made available this a number of his products on brianmccarty.com - with this showcase here being the "WAR-TOYS Folio" = which features a unique packaging, inclusive six signed and numbered 8x10 prints, at a massively reduced price of only US$148.50 (previously priced at US$495.00), in a run of 50 unique folios. Offer is up til April 2nd, 2020.
"In 2011, after my first War-Toys trip, artist and Grammy-award-winning packaging designer Hugh Brown conceived and built fifty unique folios to house six 8x10 prints. Hugh repurposed old, heavy steel medical kits (used by the French army) and suspended 7200 plastic army men in resin to create shelves for a collection of early work from the series. The photos and reproductions of the corresponding children’s drawings are individually numbered and signed. A CoA and engraved plate on the exterior of the case mark the edition number along with Hebrew and Arabic translations of “War Toys.”
After years of releasing the folios in drips and drabs to collectors, mostly around exhibitions and waves of press coverage, I’m offering the remaining ones now for 70% off of their retail price of $495. "
"The motivation for the nearly $350 discount is to inject cash into the War Toys nonprofit and its developing programs. We’re close to embarking upon an exciting new chapter, helping to change the play patterns of millions of children and promoting different ways of thinking about war. It’s a gamble, as much as that first trip to East Jerusalem was for me, but I’ve got the backing of an amazing team."
"Thank you again for your support, and once again PLEASE also consider supporting the organizations with whom I’ve worked. They are doing amazing good for displaced and war-affected children around the world: @terredeshommesitalia, @kayanyfoundation, @chooselove, @unicef_france, and @unmigration"
