#throwback: My MEPHIST FESTA Design Submission (2006)
What would our Mephist Festa-trio do?"
Goes the back-story to the trio of character skin designs I submitted to a design competition held by Play Imaginative in 2006, where winning designs would be made of Touma's MEPHIST FIESTA vinyl figures!
Blank design templates of the three characters were provided, and you could choose two or all three to work on. (Re)Featured here today in this #throwbackthursday-post (on a Friday morning, IKR? :p) is my submission, because I found the original initial sketches, shown here alongside my final submissions (done in photoshop).
"DEAD gets a job as a Mechanic. The hours are long, but he enjoys the fumes and heat, as they are as close as he can get to his old job in Hell."
"BECKY finds solace in a new job as Librarian. She enjoys her free time now, listening to Punk-music. She likes her new job, because she feels the silence in the Library was like the sound of the dead, just at the moment when they die, before being brought down to Hell."
"ZUGAN gets a job as an Insurance Salesman, but is picked on and bullied at work. He only finds his strength in the underground Fight-Clubs set-up by the old retrenched demons from Hell. ZUGAN comes in the Regular Edition (at work) and a Fight-Club Bloodied-Variant!"
I had a second round of submissions in mind, but never fully executed them, besides the above featured Zombie "DEAD", which I personally reckon would have worked much better, innit? LOL
The winner of the competition was Jim Koch, which I managed to snag and review back in 2007!
Seen above is a group-snap featuring Tei of FuriFuri, myself and Touma, from when they were in Singapore for the "PI@Galleria Foyer", held between June to July 2007, were we were treated to the massive line-up of vinyl collectibles from the now defunct Singapore toy company, which culminated in them organizing the first ever Singapore Toy & Comics Convention in 2008!
