"MUMBLES" from Daniel Yu for Official Release Aug 27th
Introducing "Mumbles" from Singapore-based toy creator+sculptor Daniel Yu, with hand-painted editions of this "quieter rioter" since scheduled for Friday drop, on 27th August, 11am EST (11pm Singapore time). There'll be other goodies well, so stay tuned and stay connected to his Insta @thedanielyu!
Featured here are snaps of the initial sculpt by Daniel, with which he added; "I’m fond of bizarre characters, and some of the best ones I’ve come across are from old halloween pictures. The most unsettling to me are oftentimes the simplest looking outfits, kids in plain clothes with an awkwardly painted clown face or a burlap sack with eye holes cut out. Mumbles is a tribute to all of that, to my fascination with the ordinarily strange. Sculpted in epoxy clay, Mumbles will be produced in sofubi."
Seen above is a in-hand video of a production sample of the Made In Japan, pulled in vinyl "Mumbles" - featuring 3 points of articulation!
Seen below is Mumbles in 2D, as illustrated by Allison Low (IG @allisonmlow), which Daniel mentioned; "I’m beyond happy with how this came out! Allison perfectly captured his look, peculiar with a tinge of melancholy."
DID YOU KNOW the first production edition of MUMBLES was secretly dropped back in June 2020, as a never before seen nor revealed baby blue colorway named "Classified Subject"? Kudos for folks who managed to notice and snag this!
