About Episode 11 of THE SANDMAN on Netflix
I'm stressed. This might be a stressful weekend for me... I have yet to devour "THE SANDMAN" on Netflix and truly hoped to do so this weekend, but .... then THIS slice of awesome popped up: A brand new bonus "11th episode" has been added to the slate of 10 episodes on Netflix!
Clocking in at "64 minutes", Episode 11 is titled "A Dream of a Thousand Cats/Calliope" = a 2-part story collection featuring a Siamese cat dreaming of a new world, and a writer in desperate need of inspiration cross paths with Morpheus. "A Dream of a Thousand Cats" is the first animated Sandman story, with Dutch animator Hisko Hulsing serving as director and production designer for the episode.
Long before even the notion of The Sandman comic book being adapted into "live action", one of my fondest wishes, is to see it manifest unto animation, particularly "The Dream Hunters" editions with art by P. Craig Russell and Yoshitaka Amano! I'd felt it would've been more apt and as well have ample space and freedom for the dreamscape to "come alive"...! I still do feel that way, and am looking forward to see what THIS animated incarnation could entail...

According to netflix.com: "This episode is an adaptation of Dream Country, the arc that spans issues 17-20 of The Sandman comic, written by Neil Gaiman. It includes two of the four stories from that arc: "A Dream of a Thousand Cats" and "Calliope." In the comics, Dream Country follows The Doll’s House, the arc depicted in Episodes 7-10 of the series."
Like I said, I am stressed... but elated.
