In my late-teens/early-adult years, I'd wanted to open a "comicbook shop", because I collected comicbooks and trading cards, and wanted to illustrate comicbooks for a living! Instead I "settled" with opening up pop-ups at Sunday Flea Markets around Singapore.
Then as I aged up and delved into "designer / art toys" (or "urban vinyls", as the early-2000s collectors termed it), I instead wanted to open up a "toy shop", and instead made do with scatterings of one-day weekend pop-ups in Sunday flea markets and a coupla'times in Singapore's annual comic-cons ...
Interestingly, the notion of "opening up a toy shop" became somewhat "closer to reality" when I had my Stroke in 2010, and had imagined rolling thru in between the display shelves, trying to reach up to the top shelf to do inventory...
That said, I know it is not only about "putting stuff on the shelves to sell", as there is much more needed to go into the trade, but... I have the stock, but no resources, so...
Fast forward to "2023", as I am surrounded by my hoard of plenty and tons of stuff to sell (comicbooks, toys, trading cards and MORE), the notion of having a physical store has indeed been tugging at me ... and I was ready to pound the weekend flea market pop-ups, before Covid shut down that notion ... with "2024" around the corner, I wonder ... Would I able to be "A Toy Store Near You"?
