TANK GIRL
"Tank Girl" started "life" as a British comic created by Alan Martin and Jamie Hewlett. First published in 1988 in comics magazine Deadline, and then in the solo comic book series Tank Girl. I fkn LOVED the comic (memories of the 90s incarnation), even though most times it was the ART that had me agog, and hardly the story nor world-building, I must admit. The kinetic irreverence was magnetic and I was relishing in it's chaotic-grip...!

It was a glorious period where my preferences veered toward more British aesthetics, ala "2000 A.D." (as much as I had enjoyed the U.S. titles and even Hong Kong manhua like "Storm Warriors" et al). Hewlett eventually illustrated Gorillaz, so his art endured as far as my personal tastes go, cheers.
I remembered it was with much excitement and trepidation when it was announced that there would be a live-action "Tank Girl" feature film! Released in 1995, starring Lori Petty as "Tank Girl" and Naomi Watts as "Jet Girl", and even Ice-T as a 'roided Kangaroo-mutant LOL
My memories of the film is still view thru nostalgic rose-tinted glasses, a simple "classic" in my heart, but in my brain was a desperate Hollywood attempt at grasping the concept, which honestly - along with likewise genre contemporaries like "Johnny Mnemonic" - certainly fit the times then, and secured a corner of my heart.
In my toy-collecting adventures thru the years, I cannot remember a "Tank Girl"-toy I had wanted to own, nor have I active searched for any, even though I had myself kitbashed a 1/6th-scaled figure of (posted in 2007, reposted here), for which I am extremely proud of doing, which has since been "dismantled" to kitbash another non-descript collectible, regretfully so.
THIS blog-feature however, was triggered by seeing Funko announcing a "new" Tank Girl Pop!, as part of their "POP! Rides" unleashing at San Diego Comic-Con 2025...! Cannot wait to see more angles to this LOL
Listen up, ‘cause I’m only telling you this once: The exclusive POP! Rides Tank Girl with Tank is coming to SDCC 2025. #Funko #FunkoPOP #SDCC #TankGirl pic.twitter.com/4C1fANsCTh

As I was searching thru the www for Production Releases for "TANK GIRL" (*there had been plenty of one-off customs and kitbashes too), I'd come across these interested visuals of "blister-carded action figures" (!), which turned out to be themed comicbook covers published circa 2019 from co-creator Alan Martin, writer Lou Martin and artist Brett Parson (Source), so that's that ... :p
