About "Uncut" Trading Card Promo 1-Sheets
Been a minute since I've featured these on the blog, but I wanted to re-share these items I have currently on sale at the TOYSREVIL-table at Miku Market: "Uncut" Trading Card Promo Sheets!
Essentially promotional sheets of "uncut" trading cards, in configurations of 9 (like a 9-Card Sleeve) or 4-sheets, some single sheets with more graphics and texts (*looking literally more "promotional" than "representational" of the finished product, IMHO), most of whom came along with catalogs (I do miss chucking out all my PREVIEW tomes tho, the hoarder that I am :p), or were given out to comicbook shops or hobby shops which dealt with/sold trading cards. My collection were predominantly from the 1990s, when I was neck deep in comicbook-collecting AND the trading card hobby!
The key aspect of the promo-sheets, where to show folks the print quality of the cards, and card stock (how thick, how glossy etc), so that folks can pre-order/order the trading card sets, before they hit the shelves. Another component to this, as singular promo cards previewing the "upcoming" series - which honestly I used to take for granted (anything not needing to pay cash money for, I used to take for granted :p) is something I cherish now, and also currently attempting to keep aside those cards for sleeving too LOL
A little known aspect of having these promo-sheets (least I have not actively showcased them to the general public), was that these, and collecting trading cards, led to me collecting actual uncut trading cards, resulting in a poster-sized sheet of literally the entire set of cards (from whatever series/title), including The Crow movie and Madman, which alas I had not actively continued with hoarding them, due to financial ability (isn't that always the case?), and simply lack of space. As regretful as I try not to let myself dwell within, I hope to one day be able to excavate my collection to showcase them to everyone! LOL
The "magic" of it all, was that I had still kept these sheets for the past 3 decades too! And very much like my trading card trove, these have become more than "nostalgic passion", as they are a slice of my life growing up 30 years ago. Mind you, I have kept an "extra in-house" copy for myself on-file for most of the sheets you see here too, so the hoarder in me remains "unfazed" in this purge LOL
From comicbook to western animation, from Hollywood feature films to classic American television shows, these are just sliver of what was available "back in the day", and I am only resisting to NOT scour the internets for other sheets I do not own...! I am not going to forgo the notion that this would be a pretty swell "retirement hobby", if I could afford it ... MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Happy Collecting, everyone!
